Drew Portnoy: AUS VERSEHEN DEUTSCH
In Aus Versehen Deutsch erzählt der amerikanische Journalist Drew Portnoy mit trockenem Humor, wie eine beiläufige Entscheidung in der Mittelstufe sein Leben auf den Kopf stellte: Damals wählte er Deutsch als Fremdsprache – nur weil sich sonst niemand dafür interessierte. Jahre später tauschte er die Rocky Mountains seiner Heimat Colorado gegen das Berliner Großstadtleben ein. Bis heute fragt er sich, ob das die richtige Wahl war. Mit viel Selbstironie und Sinn für kulturelle Skurrilitäten erzählt Portnoy von seinen drei Lieblingsthemen: Deutschland, seiner Familie und sich selbst.
Er ist häufig bei erfolgreichen Comedy-Formaten in ganz Deutschland wie NightWash, Quatsch Comedy Club und Komische Nacht zu sehen. Zudem moderiert er regelmäßig bei Comedyflash und dem Downstairs Comedy Club in Berlin sowie bei Schnack Standup in Hamburg. Dreimal ging er als Sieger der Comedy Central Roast Battle hervor.
American Drew Portnoy innocently chose German as a foreign language in middle school because no one else did. He had no idea how much the decision would shape his life. Drew traded the Rocky Mountains in the late ‘90s for Berlin’s nightlife and still wonders if it was the right decision. He adeptly aims his dry humor at his favorite targets: Germans, his family and himself.
Drew Portnoy performs in both English and German and frequents popular German comedy shows such as NightWash, Quatsch Comedy Club, and Komische Nacht. He also regularly hosts at Comedyflash and the Downstairs Comedy Club in Berlin as well as at Schnack Standup in Hamburg. He is undefeated in his three appearances in the Comedy Central Roast Battle (but lost a Roast Battle on Joyn Network as Donald Trump, as he should have).
